Every night between 18-20 July, workshops, parades and street theatre events will be lit by 5,000 candles set out in the plazas, streets and alleyways.
And as if Mijas wasn’t already pretty enough, there can be few sights more impressive than seeing the mountainside village twinkling and shining by candlelight.
It’s a time when the lovely tourist town is filled with light and colour to complement a full programme of cultural activities that can’t fail to move anyone who witnesses this superb spectacle.
And visitors should prepare for much more than just the candles! The festival also features Moorish crafts, Arabian dance workshops set in desert-style tents, storytelling, contests and art shows which, combined with the magical effects of live, candlelit concerts, all makes for a memorable weekend of culture and entertainment.
Seen for the first time, the Luna Mora festival is breathtaking and quite unique as a holiday outing.
Mijas is just a 20 minute drive from the Club La Costa World resort, or there is a regular bus service from Fuengirola, and, regardless of the season, it’s a ‘must-see’ for anyone on holiday in the Costa del Sol who wants to see and experience a little of the traditional way of life in Andalucia.
