As long as the sun is shining (which is most days here), these spectacular performances will take place at la Plaza Virgen de la Peña (Wednesday) and la Plaza de la Constitución (Saturday) and are free for everyone to attend.

Examining memory, sexuality, motherhood and the frustration that comes with all three, her work tells her story with the hope that the viewer can find pieces of their own lives in her art.

Cool and contemporary, the striking images of urban artist D* Face and a 25-year celebration of the work of famous American cult icon Shepard Fairey, bridged by Respect – four works by three artists: Peter Saul, one of the founding fathers of America Pop Art, Erik Parker  and KAWS, are currently showing until September 27 at CAC Malaga. Entry is free. A chance to view challenging, witty and colourful works of pop culture including KAWS cartoon characters.

Thought cars were boys toys, the classic car museum in Malaga, Museo Automovil  Malaga, will turn the head of any woman who loves sumptuous style and fashion, with a current exhibition of fantasy clothing under the title Cóctel de la Floresta (Cocktail in the Forest). Based on Fontaine’s fables, dummies with ceramic animal heads model couture designs of YSL, Dior, Chanel, Lacroiz, Cardin, Ungaro and Vivienne Westwood. If that’s too refined for your tastes, then every Sunday ‘Let’s Get Started!’ at 12.30 unleashes the beast under the bonnet and allows you to hear some of the most spectacular motor engines roar!

Entry is €7.50 for a general ticket, and the museum opening times are: 10.00-19-00hrs (times and exhibitions may vary).

El Cubo is the attention grabbing steel and glass cube on Muelle Uno, Malaga’s smart port and shopping area, housing the sensational Centre Pompidou, opened just this year, featuring art of the 20th and 21st centuries. There are 80 works by Frida Kahlo, Francis Bacon, Max Ernst and Rene Magritte, among others. A temporary exhibition (now until September 28 2015) titled Works on Paper 1960-1978 features the internationally acclaimed Spanish surrealist artist, born in Barcelona, Joan Miró (April 1893-December 1983).

Families planning to visit in January next year, will want to book ahead for the return to Malaga of the fabulous Cirque Du Soleil, presenting for the first time in the city their show Varekai, currently on a worldwide tour, with its theme of a forest filled with whimsical and magical creatures.
