If you love glitz and glamour, then head to what promises to be a spectacular event: Marbella Luxury Weekend (MLW), June 5-8, with designer fashion, food, and a parallel Classic Grand Prix on the last day.
In Puerto Banus, a daily show on June 6, 7 and 8 is billed as ‘the first fashion show at sea’ with models using a specially designed catwalk that stretches out over the water at the marina.
The floating catwalk will be a highlight of a series of events that celebrate luxury living with companies taking the opportunity to unveil new and exclusive products to an expected audience of thousands of tourists and international media.
There’s even a Barbie dressed as a bride in 50s vintage style, Candela by Cisco Romero, on display in an outfit made of precious metals and stones, such as gold, silver, zircons and pearl details.
Classic car enthusiasts have a real treat in store. The first Marbella Classic Regularity takes place on June 8 with up to 50 exceptional pre-1980 vehicles driven on public roads that include Marbella’s Golden Mile and Avenida Ricardo Soriano, as well as around the popular sights in Puerto Banus.
The cars will be in competition to complete stages of the circuit within prescribed times incurring the fewest penalty points, abiding by the Highway Code. There are slow speed sections and check-points where fans are invited to admire the cars close up.
For this lavish 4th edition of Marbella Luxury Weekend, organisers have not forgotten those less fortunate and have partnered with SOS Universal Children’s Day Foundation and its Solidarity Treasures campaign; which aims to provide fresh food to children of marginalised local families. A charity raffle, with businesses donating luxury items, will be drawn at the closing ceremony.
Over the four days of the ‘luxury weekend’ there are other events such as a corporate golf tournament, dinners with awards ceremonies and Spanish celebrities involved.
You don’t have to be rich to ogle at the display of what wealth can get you, but Marbella Luxury Weekend may give you ideas for splashing the cash!
From Club La Costa World, Marbella and neighbouring Puerto Banus are both easily accessible by car taking the A7 coastal highway.
