Fuengirola is a vibrant seaside town just 2km (or a 20-minute walk) from CLC Club La Costa World resort. With a choice of fantastic attractions including long, sandy beaches, restaurants, bars, nightlife and shops, you will find plenty to do in this lively holiday destination.
Places of Interest
One of the most notable landmarks in Fuengirola is the Sohail Castle. This impressive building lies on a seafront hill, with cascading landscaped gardens, at the western end of Fuengirola’s beach strip.
Fuengirola is home to the longest seafront promenade in Spain, at 8km, which makes for a pleasant stroll. If you are looking for more fun in the sun, explore the Puerto Deportivo Marina, with its boat yard, 226 berths and wide choice of restaurants, bars, shops and chandlery. Relax in one of the waterfront bars or book a fishing trip, sailing lessons or a choice of water sports, including paragliding and skiing.
Aqua Mijas Water Park on the edge of town is a popular place for families to have fun. Offering daredevil slides, a wave pool, a body ski run, an adventure river or relaxing Jacuzzis and Lizard Island created for younger children to splash around and climb about in, and a kids’ pool, it’s a great day out.
There are dozens of shops along the narrow streets and main thoroughfares of Fuengirola, selling everything from full scale flamenco costumes to holiday souvenirs and gourmet olive oils. Chemists, banks, shoe shops, boutiques and hardware stores jostle for position in the busy town centre; whatever you need you are likely to find it here at very reasonable prices.
A major shopping centre looms on the other side of the coastal highway, Miramar, with over 160 shops, restaurants and cafes, where you can buy famous Spanish High St labels such as Zara and Mango or buy new holiday wardrobe essentials on a budget in Primark.
Fuengirola holds two street markets, on Tuesdays (traditional market) and Saturdays (flea market) at its large fairground. Another large, traditional market is hosted on Sunday close to the Mosque at the western end of town, two streets back from the sea.
